asian cakes!

Went to Ranch 99 and the glutton in me went wild. :-D Green tea mousse cake! Green tea mochi!!! Chocolate Black Forest cake! (Asian cakes are AWESOME.) egg tarts! the jellos! DUCK! and lots of other things.

I am an insatiable glutton. One of these days, after my metabolism slows, I’m going to transform into a human sphere.

ooh Wordplay is an excellent movie/documentary. ^^;; what better way to celebrate the final end to fnals than dinner + crosswords? (crosswords are a new obsession. very fun. especially in groups. still, if you’d rather have your ego remain intact, don’t watch Wordplay before you attempt to time yourself. especially in groups)

where is the shopping lust?

Back in Palo Alto… the parents came to pick me up a day earlier than I expected. We went shopping… got an armload of books, most of which fall into the category of Renaissance or Greek mythology related… ^^;; *giddy* AND i got a gooorgeous silk dress from BCBG. wahahaha!! Too bad I’ll never have any occasion to wear it… but perhaps I shall make an occasion or just randomly bust it out. (like New Years?) Hahahah. That was the only purchase that really made me excited. I felt so.. “oh god, boring. let’s go home already,” while shopping. The Shopaholic in me is hiding. Lurking.

embracing the inner fob

Today was the end of the year department karaoke potluck. Turnout was not so great, because I underestimated the direness of Architecture Projects. Alas! Even so, it was pretty damn fun… for me at least. :) The DDR wasn’t as popular as I expected, and Jeff Wu had to come to the rescue so we could get sound going… but we made good use of two playstations. ^^;;

Karaoke was a TON of fun… The singing did not begin till a good two hours after the event started, mostly because people are such wusses (myself included). Once it began though, it did not stop for at least four hours. Oh Man. We nearly went through every song on those CDs!! hahahaha. (It was also extremely amusing to discover how many cheesy songs everyone knew… and how well people *koff*danmichael*koff* know Backstreet Boys. And Tony’s rendition of Day-o was SO awesome.) Ah!!! Fun!!!

But now there is a price to pay… a higher call, if you will… the unavoidable summons of Algorithms.

a few last hurrahs

algorithms is fun in large groups. :) we took a break sometime after 1am to go to Safeway so Ogawa could get some “I’m sorry I freaked you out twice” flowers for Anna and we had the absolutely BRILLIANT idea of buying some cheap champagne and orange juice to make mimosas. However, since it was a measly five minutes past 2am, selling alcohol was illegal. GAH! GAH!!

Sunday was Karaoke round 1 for a few of us and general fun. Hiroshi had mentioned that there’s this place, Rurulala, in Sacramento which has the private rooms for karaoke and I wanted to go. Getting a private room for karaoke by yourself is somewhat sad, maybe even pathetic, but luckily for me I knew people who are avid karaoke fans! Woo! We also got a spectacularly delicious and bountiful dinner at a Korean restaurant beforehand. Practically everything was spicy.

Karaoke was so much fun. And even though I initially said I wouldn’t take videos… I couldn’t resist. Those videos, however, will remain somewhat private. :-D We went to sample some home brew afterwards and as if we hadn’t indulged in enough gluttony, we needed a 3am snack. Pizza & meat loaf + bread is absolutely DELICIOUS at that time of the early morning, by the way.

Today, I have the algorithms pre-party to look forward to. And by pre-party, I mean we’re going to go over the sample final exam. Oh baby!

changes

So I’ve switched hosts… which is always annoying because I hate restoring/backing up stuff. Hopefully this new host will be better than the previous…

End of the quarter is almost here!!! Today was the last day of classes. Algorithms is almost over, which makes me very relieved. I’m really looking forward to next quarter’s classes. (Crypto for e-commerce and intrusion detection) Next week should be pretty neat… finals are at the end of the week, which means plenty of time for studying.
