Davis and its bipolar weather SUCKS. At least Boston doesn’t pretend to have “Californian” weather.

Camera-ready deadline for my NDSS paper is TOMORROW. :) and so’s Tony’s bday! and then it’s only a bit more than a week till the quarter’s over.
I learned to play Gin rummy when Jeff came to visit. It’s addicting, I tell ya. I kicked ass. (Maybe half the time.) Semi-like Mah-jong, but not as complicated. Fun. and addicting.

Oh yeah, so I initially thought that the Wii was a stupid name and that all the hype was undeserved… but that thing is SO Much Fun!!! The bowling and boxing things especially. Weee, I mean, Wiiiii! (How can I resist a bad pun?)

Democrats have taken the senate and house!!! Whoohoo!!! There’s cause for hope! The Republicans no longer control all three branches of the government!!

To perform my civic duties… and perhaps to assuage my guilt about not caring enough to vote, i’m a tech rover for this election. unfortunately, this meant getting to the woodland county courthouse by 5:30AM. uuugh. it becomes SO very clear in events like this that i am Not a Morning Person. i can’t really complain though; the electronic machines aren’t really being used at all, i’m basically sitting here and studying. weee…

I feel silly studying for the chinese linguistics exam, because i have to make all these funny sounds in order to understand how to make them… algorithms midterm is just plain scary, so i’d rather get the easy exam prep over with, odd noises and all.
and seeing how it’s election day… i can’t help think of the Fox News scrolling headline that said, and I kid you not, “Elections distracting America from war on terror?” (Perhaps it wasn’t “War on Terror” but rather “terrorism threat” or something equally asinine)

so… mike & jim went off to the viz conference in baltimore and stayed in a really shitty hotel. luckily for mike, i lent him my ds lite. in return, he gave me crabs. fuzzy ones. and there’s one that moves if you pull the string. hahaha

in other news, i’m addicted to sunflower seeds again. and pho.

because i like upgrading things. and of course my need to constantly upgrade things messed up my laptop’s booting capabilities yet AGAIN. sigh. new external hard drive came. It’s a lovely, small, 500 gb with a glowy blue button on the side. i feel like holding it and purring, “my preciousssss” in a really creepy voice.

feeling much happier in general this week. i guess it was just the monthly hormones that made me feel uber-bitchy last week. hahah. anyway… classes are going - well, they’re going. prof in linguistics finaally put an end to the annoying chatter of the undergrads while he was trying to lecture. dimsum is my friend. my new best friend, in fact.

have been feeling rather antisocial lately. i blame the cold weather. it’s hard to want to step outside the lab or apartment when davis’ weather is so damn bipolar!!! and davis seems much more boring this year. i kinda miss my apartment location from last year. i have a feeling that if i didn’t have to bike so much to get to downtown, i would be heading there a whole lot more. i haven’t even been to farmer’s market yet!!! gah!!! and let’s not even TALK about village bakery. and the “fiery habanero” doritos? not even close. bah. i need me a real habanero burger!!
