bye bye, gracie

Grace came to visit this weekend and, of course, met Sarabi. That leaves Nana as the only critter who hasn’t met Sarabi. Now she’s off to Portland and then Japan for at least a year… JAPAN! a YEAR!!! think of the SUSHI! It seems that Hachi decided that since Eine got to go to Japan, he was going too… so he stowed himself away in her luggage. In exchange, Podolly is staying with me. I guess it’s kinda like those old Roman-style hostage situations.

Recap, recap? Picked up Grace from the airport, along w/her heavy heavy bags and lovely laptop bag. (She’s got good taste in bags. ^_~) We went to Univerity Ave for dinner & gelato. (mmm… gelato!) and watched Kill Bill on my kickass huge TV at home… then went to San Francisco on Saturday. Got dim sum at like 4 in the afternoon and then went shopping around in Union Square. Once we came home, it was pack, pack, rearrange.

I finally saw the famed scrapbook, which was soooo lovely and full of sentiment. I added my signature and a message, so rest easy, Mimi and Anita…

You know, I was going to spare you from my bad pun… but grace insists that everyone share in her pain upon reading it. So here it is. ( click if you dare )

a trojan horse. literally

Here’s the youtube video.

This is mostly a post to test my delayed upgrade to Wordpress 2.0.4 as well as the facebook notes (rss feed syndication) and the croissanga plugin… so now I only update one blog. I like the new wordpress, overall… perhaps too many bells and whistles, but generally excellent.

the fiery depths of my gut

Habanero burgers are awesome. Like all things, however, they should be taken in moderation. So let’s just say… five burgers worth of habanero sauce and one actual burger does not play nicely with your innards. Still, I didn’t lose (but I didn’t win either) the challenge against Andrew. Hahaha. At least I know my blood’s circulating better than ever. Yeah! :-D

oh, and of all the analogies about single girls/guys… I think my favorite is (from bash.org):

<beeth> Girls are like internet domain names, the ones I like are already taken.
<honx> well, you can stil (sic) get one from a strange country :-P

here and there

I finally posted pictures of the Berkeley kite festival and Habanero burgers.

News of the RFID passports make me nervous. It’s yet another example of why security research is so crucial. If only academia would mesh more with the real world!

Flaming Dell laptops at conferences… Always tragic when a computer dies, yes, but I’m sure everyone in that session was wide awake.

Mice neurons and the universe… Douglas Adams was onto something there, eh? Speaking of Douglas Adams, my Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (of five) arrived, as did my Nintendo ds lite. Needless to say, I no longer lack for entertainment. However, on the social side, I’ve finally met nVidia people and went to Great America for the first time.

For you, Amy.
