sneaky, sneaky spammers

Browserzilla, which was supposed to be a secure tool for browsing, was actually visiting “adult content” sites every once in a while. What a shame - it had such a neat name.

Spammers are pretty damn clever. If only they’d use their power for good instead of evil…

power tool!!!

whoaaa… now i see what the fuss over regular expressions is all about!

hehhe. i’m still doing all my analysis in php. *shrug* even if circular acronyms are cool, I still think PHP should stand for Prettier, Happier than Perl. which it is. (Until, of course, a real beauty contest ensues and Python wins because it’s a neat freak and Perl speedily beats them both up in a fit of rage armed with regexps and runs away just as quickly.)

Amy wants an exciting blog

My internship started!!! Everyone’s uber-nice, but I still miss my cramped spot in the lab back at Davis and of course, Midgard. I’ve been biking there, and for the most part, the trip is uneventful and safe… until you get to the the bit right before the bike bridge across the highway and then you run into the crazy drivers who try to turn while you’re trying to get on to the bikepath. I hate those crazy boogers! However, I hate wearing that dinky helmet even more.

The highlight of email (for a while) was Mew’s note about her continuing bad luck at Border Cafe. (Maybe they’re trying to make you melt?) My mom got to go to Boston to visit her friend for almost a week. I was, and still am, insanely jealous. In her pics, there’s like… artsy cows everywhere. Tell me that’s not a sign that I should be there.

I haven’t even set up my PS2 (I will! Soon!) because I’ve been too busy playing Chrono Trigger. I’m insanely in love with Frog & Robo’s theme. SO cute. So naturally I got the soundtrack, which will make its way to Midgard soon enough. I’m almost done. I’ve gotten through everything and all the side quests. I just have to beat Lavos, and then you are all indebted to me for saving the timeline and making sure that the cute little imps eating cake get along with humans!! I’ve also been watching CSI & The 4400. Almost done w/season 5 of CSI LV. That leaves season 6, and CSI Miami 4. The 4400 is pretty damn good so far… but now that I’ve seen “Taken” everytime I see Tom Baldwin I think of that asshole whose only pickup line was, “You are the sun and the moon to me.”

Ok, so not so much excitement, but hopefully I made up for it in length.

sf!

San Francisco with Shang was fun. :) Dimsum, Shopping, and Dinner!!! Dinner at House of Nanking was really really good. Mmmmm…. Jim was right - the waiters/waitresses are psychic when it comes to picking out your dishes.

half and half

Home again. It’s always a mixed bag. I miss being in Davis. I miss my workstation (midgard) in 2245. At least Sarabi’s here though…

I start work on Monday.

i dreamed in sql & latex

Oy… I haven’t pulled an all nighter in the lab yet, but last night was close. 5am. Biking home when the sun was rising is… interesting. You know, I’ve always hated the birds because when you hear them in the morning you know you’ve lost all chance of a good night’s rest. I had dreams where I was inserting my pics in latex and doing my php&mysql stuff. Sigh.

Saw the performance of Carmina Burana last night. It was awesome, and the Roast Swan song did not disappoint though I really did wish that Veni veni venias would be sung the way it is in the FFVII song One Winged Angel. ^^;; It’s a circular opera, though, so the way they’ve written it is like an infinite loop, since song #25 refers to song #1, and it doesn’t specify “Stop after x iterations.” That sounds like some component of a dark, gruesome horror film - The choir keeps singing the same piece over and over and over again. Roast swans are being miserable, and there’s some giant roaring about rage.

something’s coming up, right?

Battle Royale in groups is always much more fun. (Proof of concept: Movie night at Anna’s).

After watching Batman Begins (which is awesome) and Da Vinci Code (which was good, but nothing spectacular): Bruce Wayne fell down a well, with tons of bats, and became Batman. Robert Langdon fell down a watery well and became claustrophobic. Langdon, you wimp! But with Tom Hanks playing Langdon, I’m not surprised.

in other news, forget baby alligators, I want me one of these! It’s sooo adorable.
