whoohoo… since i last posted… i completed the Basic Web Hacking challenges… yay! so i guess that goal’s been completed. :-P maybe i should add a new one of one of the “realistic” missions. but i think i should add instead, “Go to sleep before 1:30am every night.” I forgot that I was going to enjoy being able to go to sleep early.
alrighty… so i’ve been meaning to do a lot of stuff for this vacation. let’s list them and see which ones i get done by the end of winter break.
1. Improve the e-voting control panel (Carol’s going help with this)
2. ASU Image gallery
3. Make the absolutely ancient (by ancient i mean 266mhz, win98) pc into a linux machine… (this depends on whether my parents will let me delete everything from that machine)
4. Read loads and loads… Finish cuckoo’s egg (it’s much better and, if possible, so much more intriguing this time than years ago when i knew nothing about this stuff), there’s the Matt Bishop book calling my name, and the ten trillion others i’ve got on my list…
5. Start work on next semester’s independent study stuff… so i can start the abstract and everything for senior seminars too.
6. Finish Grad School Applications!!
7. Complete as much of the web-hacking stuff as possible on hackthissite.org. Currently am on level 8…
Short and realistic list, i think… i was going to add “get into habit of early morning runs” and “learn to drive” but i doubt that will happen.
and today… i roasted potatoes in the fireplace. it was sooooo yummy…
so technically it’s past xmas… but merry christmas all the same. had an uneventful but relaxing day…

hm. so it’s freezing out. literally. water turned to ice freezing. brrr….
anyway, as i was walking back to mcafee, i spied with my little eye (yes… those beady little eyes) taline and flora. so what do i do? i creep up on them… and POUNCE. reaction? it was beautiful, really…. a blood curdling scream from Flora, and a yelp from Taline. and loud, satisfied cackling from me.
i really was quite pleased with myself.

last night, in preparation for implementing the e-voting project, i decided… upgrade time for apache, mysql, and php (AMP) well of course i got the newest distributions of each… and installed them… but there was one problem though - the newest things don’t like to work together. oy. so apparently there are groups out there who provide packages like phpdev that install AMP for you… but i’m a sucker for customization, so i had to do everything MY way… (which is, quite often, the WRONG way…)
